Welcome to My Wiki!

Come back often for K-8 technology education ideas!

Why this Wiki?

This wiki has been created as part of a years-long ambition of mine and born of a graduate level class I took in the fall of 2009. My ambition has been to develop a set of teaching ideas for technology educators in K-8. The class, ECI 831 from the University of Regina, has been a steep learning curve for me. The final assignment in the class was to create a digital project related to technology in teaching and learning.

I have been teaching technology education for the last 7 years. When I started teaching tech. ed. I was shocked to find that there is no provincial curriculum for it. There is, however, a scope and sequence written by and for our division. Although this document is a good starting point, it doesn't offer much in the way of specific and current programs and assignments to use with students at a certain grade level.

In ECI 831 I learned about educational blogging and digital storytelling. I thought that both would be great things to do with students at the Middle Years' Level.
In this blog I plan to publish a resource on Digital Storytelling as my final assignment for ECI 831 and then to add other lessons that I have developed and used in my own teaching over the last 7 years.

In the summer of 2011 I took ECUR 805, Issues in Education. The main task was to write a paper about an issue in education that interested us. I chose the topic of using blogging and social media in the classroom to meet curricular goals.
